The 1960s

The 1960s saw a change in the world of High School basketball in Winnipeg. In 1958, the Manitoba government commissioned a study of "Physical Education and Recreation in Manitoba. This study stated, "There is a definite need for a Secondary Schools Athletic Association to define policy, standards and participation regulations for all high school athletic competitions in the province." The result of the study was the formation of the Manitoba Secondary Schools Athletic Association (M.S.S.A.A.) on April 24, 1962 (from the Manitoba Secondary School Athletic Association Provincial A Basketball program dated 1975). By the 1980s the association's name was the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association.

The Private School League appears to have evolved into the Separate Schools League. By the end of the decade, both leagues appear to have dissolved - likely combining with the newly formed city structure.

By the late 1960s, St. Paul's had  2 competitive teams - the Crusader team and the Freshman team. The school continued to have a strong school league with 5 Midget teams and 5 Bantam teams. Competition for the school league championships continued to be fierce.
